Along with the a6300, Sony has unveiled a new range of flagship lenses which they dubbed the G-Master series. The first three lenses under this series are: The 24-70mm f/2.8, 85mm f/1.4 and 70-200mm f/2.8. These sit above their previous high-end G series lenses, and therefore also command a premium price. Along with the lenses are two new teleconverters (1.4x and 2.0x) to go with the 70-200mm f/2.8.

Sigma Announces Three New Lenses and Two Teleconverters

Sigma has also announced a bunch of lenses, starting with a pair of 150-500mm f/5-6.3 HSM OS lenses. A pair? That’s right. Sigma probably took a look at Tamron and envied them enough to produce a pair of such lenses, coming in at Sport and Contemporary editions. The main difference is the Sport version has more elements for better image quality (given they’re low dispersion glass I assume there will be less chromatic aberrations at least) and the Sport version is better built with weather sealing.  It is also going to be heavier at 2.8kg. Yikes that’s the 120-300mm f/2.8’s weight! No word on price and availability for either lens. Continue reading Sigma Announces Three New Lenses and Two Teleconverters

Not to be outdone by Canon’s recent release of a pair of ultra-wide angle lenses, Nikon has released a new super telephoto. This is an update to the AF-S 400mm f/2.8G ED VR and costs US$3,000 more. The newly released AF-S 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR features a new magnesium alloy die-cast barrel and 2 fluorite elements (hence the FL moniker), shaving 820g off the weight of the predecessor.
